Psi-Fi Studios

Studio Manager: Chris Neehause In-House Engineers: Chris Neehause Peet Gardner Audio Technician & Repairs: Mark Conlon

Psi-Fi Studios, located in the heart of Brisbane’s creative precinct, Fortitude Valley, opened in 2001. Since then we have had the pleasure of working some of the country’s most vital up-and-coming artists (and a few legends!), who tell us how great we have made them sound both on radio and disc.

Our client list encompasses a wide variety of musical interests ranging from Rock/metal/Alternative styles to Hip-hop, pop, folk, country and blues. We pride ourselves on our ability to discuss projects with clients and then together a production team whose prime objective is to make the best possible recording within the allocated budget.

Acoustically this is undeniably one of the finer recording facilities in Brisbane. Based around a DIGIDESIGN Control24 ProTools HD System with Digidesign 192 Interfacing and a myriad of licensed plug-ins. A vastly quick-growing array of outboard gear including preamps, compressors and multi-effects help achieve a rainbow of colours during the tracking and mixing stage. Monitoring is done through Dynaudio BM15 and Yamaha NS-10 studio monitors, with a set of JLM Audio prototypes to listen to a wider image. The total recall environment and true control room monitoring ensure that what you hear in the studio is replicated in the mastering suite.

A large multi-level control room featuring an 8ft fish tank, comfortable lounge and cinema style seating encourages long sessions and isolation from the rest of the world. Acoustic isolation is achieved with 3 fully floating rooms (not just floors), and the larger “live room” has become renown for it’s fantastic drum sounds. Isolation room 2 is extremely sympathetic to strings and horns. All rooms have clear vision between each other and the control room making live tracking an option whilst retaining acoustic isolation. Microphones by Neumann, Schoepps, AKG, Sennheiser, Beyer and Shure capture the sounds.

With commercial airplay on MMM, JJJ and ABC networks across multiple genres, and audio production for Television commercials meeting Channel Ten and ABC network standards, you can be assured of a positive outcome.
